POPs will utilise Synelixis’ (the mother company) SDN/VNF micro Data Centre, which is dedicated for R&D activities and is already partially used in 5GPPP SONATA project. It features 12 Intel Xeon CPU E3-1200@3.1GHz nodes with a total of 96 cores, 384GB RAM and more than 144TB storage capacity. Servers are connected via a Pica8 Non-blocking OpenFlow switch with 48xGE ports, 4x10GE SFP+, enhanced TCAM, and dual redundant power supplies. Local access is available via Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11 ac WiFi, while remote access is available via a 50Mbps access interface. Synelixis test-bed is based on full-stack installations of OpenStack Mitaka and OpenDaylight (Helium), offering resources for NFV experimentation purposes.
Lab#1 will host the NRG-5 development repository, automatic build and laboratory testing targeting NFVs and VNFs, along with software quality control. Moreover, via Lab#1, NRG-5 will access and contribute to the OPNFV project “Pharos”21, by means of implementing the Pharos definitions for OPNFV compliant deployment and testing and provide both feedback and resources.
